Ensemble 415 : CD RELEASE - TARTINI -TASSO

TARTINI CD RELEASE Giuseppe Tartini (1692 - 1770) Sonate a violino solo Aria del Tasso Chiara Banchini, violin - Patrizia Bovi, vocals Chiara Banchini has never made a secret of her admiration for Giuseppe Tartini and the musical, intellectual and aesthetic attention to detail in evidence on this CD is a testimony to this fact. Tartini developed a system of thought based around Nature - physical phenomena perceived by our senses and determined by mathematical rules. He focused on sophisticated, coherent aesthetic concepts such as the use of popular songs (especially the songs of gondoliers which were reminiscent of Tasso and Ariosto), musical composition based on poetic meters, or musical inspiration from poetic citations (from Metastasi, Petrarch, Rolli, etc.). In order to take us deep within this poetic universe, Chiara Banchini has enlisted the vocal talents of Patrizia Bovi, whose voice is reminiscent of the traditional gondolier songs in the Venetian works of Goethe or Rousseau. She has also asked Stefano Aresi to present, in the booklet, the synaesthesia so sought after by Tartini. We invite you to consider the booklet as a necessary adjunct to listening. In it you will find, sonata by sonata, the complete texts of the poetry quoted by the author, reproductions of paintings selected for their affinities with each piece, and a passage of verse or prose relating to the music recorded, to Tartini’s philosophy, or to associated topics. This slim volume aims to be a companion which recorded, to Tartini’s philosophy, or to associate topics. This booklet aims to be a companion which, beguiling your eyes by means of painting and reading, will help you enjoy the beauties of this music, which we believe must be savoured a little at a time, slowly, as when one tastes vintage wines at the fireside in winter. Digibox with 56-page, full-colour booklet, graphics by Michele Crivellaro, in French and English, available from the Harmonia Mundi network, Musicora and on the Zigzag website (http://www.zigzag-territoires.com) To listen to an extract, visit our website: www.ensemble415.org
